YAF Chapter Hosts Heritage Foundation

lindsay

Today the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Florida Atlantic University will host Rob Gordon, Senior Advisor for Strategic Outreach at the Heritage Foundation, the premier American conservative think-tank. Gordon will speak on "big government and its effects on free markets, energy, and the environment."

The event is open to the public and will be held from 6:00-8:00pm in Live Oak Pavillion. Free food and drinks will be served. YAF members invite you to bring your friends and your questions for Mr. Gordon as there will be a question and answer period.

Here's what you can do to effectively promote conservative values on your campus:

  1. Start or join a chapter of Young Americans for Freedom on CampusReform.org. You owe it to your values to effectively educate others on the issues and combat the ideas contrary to your own represented on campus by other student groups, professors, and the administration.
  2. Once you've created the group, blog about your activities on CampusReform.org to spread the word about your group, create a permanent record of your efforts, and enhance your impact on campus.
  3. Host a conservative speaker.  These events are a great way to garner publicity for your message and educate everyone about your views.

The following is an excerpt from a press release sent out by the Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Florida Atlantic University [all emphasis mine]. If you would like help sending out a press release for your group contact the Campus Services Coordinator in your region.

On Wednesday March 3, 2010 at around 5:20pm Florida Atlantic University (FAU) campus officials shut down and called campus police on four students and an alumnus of FAU to stop an informational meeting about starting a conservative organization on campus.

James Schackleford saw a need for a conservative club on campus and decided to start a Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter.  Shackelford hosted and informational meeting with FAU alum and Florida YAF State Director Daniel P. Diaz discuss future activities of YAF on campus as well as around the state.
